Having qualified as a primary school teacher in July 2014, I spent the first few years of my teaching career teaching Key Stage 1 at a local primary school. Here I enjoyed taking the reins with a range of subject leader responsibilities across the primary curriculum.
Ready for a new challenge in a different school, my career took me to a Key Stage 2 teaching position at a school in my local area. This experience teaching across the primary age range has provided me with invaluable experience and a great insight into the building blocks of each year group and the progression across the primary age range.
In 2016 ABC Primary Tutoring Services was created. As a classroom teacher, time did not always allow working with children on a 1:1 basis. With a desire to support children with individual gaps in knowledge and keen to help all children experience success, I began tutoring children in the evenings .
In 2019 ABC Primary Tutoring expanded further, working with a wider range of children from EYFS to Year 6 and including teaching all core subjects across the Primary National Curriculum in Key Stages 1 and 2. This has also included supporting preparations for SATs, 11+ and School Entrance Exams. We have experience of both teaching and 1:1 tutoring SEN children, using a range of different strategies and approaches to engage them in various aspects of the primary curriculum. This includes (but is not limited to) dyslexia, ADD and ADHD.
I began as an alternative provision tutor in July 2019, working 1:1 with children across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 whom require an alternative to mainstream education. This hugely rewarding role has continued to confirm that in a safe environment and with the right approach at the right time, ALL children can thrive and make progress in education.
