The needs, interests and views of the child are at the forefront of our approach. Children need to feel valued and involved in any decision making that impacts them; to know that they have a voice and that their opinion matters.
We are aware that facilitating children to develop socially, mentally and emotionally is just as important as supporting them in their educational journey. By developing the 'whole child', we can instil trust, promote positive and supportive relationships and build confidence and self- esteem.
A child's interests are at the forefront of our approach to alternative provision; these can be used to create common ground between child and educator and make a child feel at ease and show interest in activities. An engaged child is a child who is open to learning- whatever the task or activity.
Session content is based upon the National Curriculum 2014 where appropriate, with formative and summative assessments undertaken to ensure tasks are pitched at the correct level for the child..
We are experienced in developing a unique and personalised alternative education approach for each child accessing our provision. We believe that it is important to keep up to date with training which offers insights into how to further improve our provision.
Working together with all those involved in the child's care, we seek to promote a positive view of education where children may have previously considered education in a negative light. At a pace and process appropriate to the child, we work to encourage reintegration into a more formal education setting.
